The campaign against illegal gambling operations has been intensified in Quezon City, according to QC Police District (QCPD) chief Police Brigadier General Ronnie Montejo on Friday.

Five individuals, including two suspected bet collectors and three suspected bettors, were arrested in an anti-illegal gambling operation conducted along K6 Street in Barangay Kamuning on November 4.

They were identified as Porferio Laluces, 51, and Crisanto Bueno, 53, suspected bet collectors; Mario Santos, 54; Crispin Catacutan, 39; and Edwin Nagañio, 50, suspected bettors.

Montejo said the operation was jointly launched by the QCPD and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.

Cash worth P3,290 was seized from the suspects as well as some illegal gambling paraphernalia.

Prior to the operation, police conducted a week-long surveillance on illegal number game activities in the said area.

According to the authorities, the arrested suspects were alleged members of Harris and Gilbert group involved in illegal gambling operations in the city.
